Profhilo Structura
Profhilo Structura is the latest addition to the Profhilo family. Like Profhilo it uses a thermally stabilised hybrid complex of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to improve the quality of fat under the skin to lift sagging tissues and improve the appearance of hollows caused by facial ageing.
This treatment will appeal to those who want a natural rejuvenated appearance, those who are are keen on regenerative treatments or those those who may be apprehensive of fillers. Fillers given appropriately remain an excellent anti-aging treatment and Profhilo Structura can be given in conjunction with fillers and Profhilo for the skin.

What is Profhilo Structura?
The effects of hyaluronic acid in the skin are well researched and documented. Research into effects in other tissues such as fat, bone and muscle is ongoing.
With Profhilo we found that while primarily it is a skin treatment there are beneficial effects on the fat pads under the injection points.
Structura is the other way around. It is mainly a treatment for superficial fat pads but inevitably there are some skin benefits. This leads to an interesting anti-aging protocol combining both Profhilo and Structura.
Structura is the same hybrid complex of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic as in Profhilo, but has 90mg in 2ml as opposed to the 64mg of Profhilo
It is injected via a cannula inserted in front of the ear into the superficial fat pad.
There are two protocols depending on the presenting problem, but both are done from 1 entry point. The product is injected in a linear fashion, leaving a visible sausage under the skin but like Profhilo, this spreads quickly through the fat pad, staying within the boundaries of that compartment. Some will find its way to the skin.
Structura has effects on adipocytes and stem cells found in adipose (fat) tissue. It is the improvement of the quality of the fatty tissue (more springy and youthful rather than added volume) behind facial retaining ligaments that gives the lifting effect.
What's our process?
Before Treatment
- Before you undergo Structura treatment, you should book a face-to-face consultation with our experienced practitioner.
- The consultation will assess your suitability for the procedure, examining your medical history and goals to ensure it’s appropriate.
- We highly recommend asking any questions or expressing concerns you may have before proceeding.
- The practitioner will let you know what to expect on the day of the procedure and explain the treatment process and which of the treatment protocols will be of most benefit.
- We will let you know help to prepare for your appointment, which can often include avoiding alcohol and specific medications or supplements. Blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory medicines, such as aspirin may increase the chance of bruising but we would advise stopping these when they are medically necessary
- Before your session, drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and eat a light meal.
During Treatment
- On the day of your Structura procedure, we recommend visiting the clinic with a clean face and not wearing makeup.
- Baseline photos will taken.
- Structura is injected into fat pads using a blunt cannula. A small hole is made in front of the ear with a needle to allow insertion of the cannula. A linear thread of the product is injected under the skin into the fat pad or pads depending on which protocol is chosen.
- The procedure is virtually painless and no anaesthetic is needed
- There will be either 1 or 2 “sausages” on each side of the face but these disperse rapidly.
After Treatment
- After you have received your Structura treatment, the practitioner will provide you with aftercare instructions.
- We usually advise avoiding physical exercise, swimming and cosmetic procedures for 24-48 hours. It is best to stay out of direct sunlight and use a high SPF sunscreen.
- There is no downtime with Structura and you can expect a recovery within hours.
- It is common to experience minor side effects following treatment, including redness, swelling and bruising. These side effects typically should only last for a few days.
- You will see the full results of your treatment within 6-8 weeks. The effects will last for around 3-6 months
- The treatment protocol is 2 sessions 4 weeks apart
- We recommend a maintenance treatment of 1 session every 6 months but this could be once a year if done in conjunction with Profhilo maintenance.

FAQs
What is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is an advanced injectable treatment that restores facial structure and improves skin quality by stimulating collagen and supporting the superficial fat layers of the face.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, it does not add volume in a sculpted way. Instead, it works to improve firmness, contour, and overall skin integrity, resulting in a more natural, supported appearance over time.
How is Profhilo Structura different from standard Profhilo?
While both treatments are based on stabilised hyaluronic acid, they are designed with different clinical goals in mind. Standard Profhilo focuses primarily on improving skin hydration and elasticity through bio-remodelling of the dermis.
Profhilo Structura, however, is formulated to go deeper. It is specifically designed to support the superficial fat compartments of the face, which are often affected by age-related volume loss. Rather than simply hydrating the skin, it helps restore structural support, improve contour, and enhance overall facial integrity. The result is a more lifted, supported appearance rather than just improved skin texture.
How many treatments are needed?
A course of treatment is typically recommended to achieve optimal results. In most cases, this involves two sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart.
Depending on your skin condition, degree of volume loss, and overall treatment goals, additional sessions or maintenance treatments may be advised. As this is a regenerative approach, results build progressively, and consistency is key to achieving long-term improvement.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Most patients experience mild swelling, redness, or small injection site marks immediately after treatment, which usually settle within 24-48 hours.
Occasional bruising can occur, particularly in more delicate areas, but this is generally short-lived. You can typically return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although it is advisable to avoid intense exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat exposure for the first 24 hours.
When will I see results and how long do they last?
Initial improvements in skin quality, such as hydration and subtle firmness, may begin to appear within a few weeks. However, the full effect develops gradually as collagen production and tissue regeneration are stimulated over time.
Results are not immediate in the way traditional fillers can be. Instead, they evolve, with optimal outcomes usually seen several weeks after the second treatment.
Longevity varies depending on individual factors such as age, skin condition, and lifestyle, but results typically last around six to nine months. Maintenance treatments are recommended to preserve and build upon the results.
