What is Microneedling?
Derma FNS® is a unique microneedling pen that creates thousands of vertical channels into the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen renewal, providing ultimate rejuvenation, skin tightening and remodelling.
A mechanical injury to the dermis triggers the healing process. Unlike most dermal needling pens, which rely on an outdated spring mechanism, the Derma® FNS pen utilises unique motor technology that fully inserts and retracts the needles before the subsequent insertion. The Derma® FNS is the only known pen that uses this technology. Spring mechanisms usually struggle to keep up with the rapid motor, meaning that with other microneedling products, the needles do not have time to fully retract before reinserting, causing additional damage and trauma to the skin and adding to the downtime.
The Derma® FNS microneedling system has a needle cartridge design that prevents blood from being drawn back into the device, thereby preventing cross-contamination. The microneedling pen causes significantly less surface trauma and bleeding than other leading competitors, providing maximum results with minimal downtime. Most clients find their redness is reduced within a few hours or even minutes, whereas other pens can leave clients with unnecessary redness for up to four days.
Derma® FNS microneedling treatments can address various skin conditions and issues, including skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation, improving the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks, minimising pore size and improving alopecia.
What's our process?
Before Treatment
- First, you should find a qualified practitioner specialising in medical microneedling, such as our skin clinic in Bolton. We have a safe space where procedures are carried out by experts with decades of experience in the aesthetics field.
- Before agreeing to treatment, you must attend a consultation with the medical practitioner treating you. They will examine your skin and medical history and discuss your reason for wanting medical microneedling to ensure it’s the most suitable option.
- The specialist will also inform you of the steps you may need to take in the days and weeks before your procedure. They may advise applying a vitamin cream, avoiding certain medications or staying clear of products that can increase skin sensitivity.
- If you have any worries or questions about microneedling and what to expect, you are encouraged to discuss them at the consultation.
During Treatment
- On the day of your microneedling procedure, the target area on your skin will be cleaned, and a numbing ointment or cream will be applied. it will take around 30-45 areas for your skin to become numb, ensuring you feel minimal discomfort during treatment.
- Once the practitioner is satisfied the numbing effects are entirely in place, they will gently and slowly roll the microneedling device over your skin. The device will puncture your skin with tiny needles, helping to stimulate collagen renewal.
- You will likely only feel minor discomfort during the process, and many clients describe it as a warm or scratching sensation on the skin.
- We use the Derma FNS® revolutionary device, which fully inserts and retracts the needles before moving on to the next insertion, helping reduce surface trauma and bleeding.
- The process itself usually doesn’t last more than one hour. You may require multiple microneedling sessions to benefit fully from the treatment.
After Treatment
- Medical microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that won’t put you out of action. After treatment, you can leave and go about your day as usual because there is minimal downtime.
- You may encounter redness and swelling for several hours after treatment, but this typically doesn’t last more than 24 hours.
- We will provide aftercare tips, including using an ice pack to cool the skin, reduce swelling, and calm discomfort.
- While you recover, avoiding sun exposure and consistently applying sunscreen, even on cloudy days, is recommended. You may need to restrict your makeup usage while the skin heals.
- In the following days, you may see skin flaking and peeling, a sign that the treatment is working. You should start to see improvements to your skin within 2-3 weeks, and we usually expect full results to appear within 3-4 months.
- It’s essential to look after your skin and body, ensuring you eat healthy and stay hydrated. Our aftercare advice and suggested products will help you get the most out of your microneedling treatment.
