What is profhilo?
Most skin boosters have a low concentration of hyaluronic acid injected, which is injected in small amounts throughout the face, in order to improve hydration. They contain 10-15mg/ml of non stabilised hyaluronic acid deleivered by numerous injections at 1cm intervals. Non stabilised hyaluronic acid does not hang around for very long and you could argue any results are due to the numerous puncture wounds (i.e. a microneedling treatment)
Profhilo contains a whopping 64mg/2ml of hyaluronic acid. It is a thermally stabilised hybrid complex of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This means it is in the skin for at least a month, which is long enough to do what it is designed to do.
Unlike other products, Profhilo is much more than just skin hydration. Yes the high molecular weigh component sucks in water but the clever part is the low molecular weight component. Low molecular weight hyaluronic signals fibroblasts and keratinocytes in the skin to make more collagen, more elastin and more of the skin’s own natural hyaluronic acid production which is where the extra hydration comes from. Also skin functions better as skin cell communicate via short chain hyaluronic acid.
Profhilo is not simply a skin booster, it is a bioremodeller and can be used for skin laxity anywhere. In addition Profhilo has been shown to help fat under the skin which gives a more lifted appearance even though it is not a filler.
There is no downtime from this Profhilo treatment, and no anaesthetic is needed.
There will be 5 small lumps on each side of the face after treatment but these spread within hours. Bruising is unlikely due to the depth of the injection.
It is worth noting that there is nothing else that behaves like profhilo and this is the only product that should be injected via the 5 bioaesthetic points (BAPs)

What's our process?
Before Treatment
- Before you undergo Profhilo treatment, you should book a face-to-face consultation with our experienced practitioner.
- The consultation will assess your suitability for the procedure, examining your medical history and goals to ensure it’s appropriate.
- We highly recommend asking any questions or expressing concerns you may have before proceeding.
- The practitioner will let you know what to expect on the day of the procedure and explain the treatment process.
- We will let you know help to prepare for your appointment, which can often include avoiding alcohol and specific medications or supplements. Blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory medicines, such as aspirin may increase the chance of bruising but we would advise stopping these when they are medically necessary
- Before your session, drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and eat a light meal.
During Treatment
- On the day of your Profhilo procedure, we recommend visiting the clinic with a clean face and not wearing makeup.
- Baseline photos will taken.
- Profhilo is injected into the skin in 5 specicfic points on each side of the face
- The procedure is a bit stingy but no anaesthetic is needed
- There will be 5 visible lumps on each side of the face but these disperse rapidly, occasionally bruising can occur.
After Treatment
- After you have received your Profhilo injections, the practitioner will provide you with aftercare instructions.
- We usually advise avoiding physical exercise, swimming and cosmetic procedures for 24-48 hours. It is best to stay out of direct sunlight and use a high SPF sunscreen.
- There is no downtime with Profhilo, and you can expect a recovery within hours.
- It is common to experience minor side effects following treatment, including redness, swelling and bruising. These side effects typically should only last for a few days.
- You will see the full results of your treatment within 6-8 weeks. The effects will last for around 3-6 months
- The treatment protocol is 2 sessions 4 weeks apart
- As we continually age and skin is subject to ongoing oxidative stress we recommend a maintenance regime of 1 session every 3-4 months. This allows patients to get cumulative benefits. Studies have shown that if you go beyond 6-7 months skin goes back to baseline then the 2 sessions are required again.
How has this helped out patients?
